Therapy Sucks

Therapy is thought for the screwed-up people or ones that are weak. It is a taboo thing to talk about or even mention. I don’t need that!

Some people think, “Therapy is stupid and it sucks.”

Are you one of those? I was at one point in my life, but I was so wrong. After many years in a career in public safety, I realized that I needed to do something because I was spiraling out of control with emotions and drinking. I still remember the day I caught myself thinking… “I just bought this bottle two days ago.” Even though it was a small bottle, it still woke me up to realize that I was not right. I decided to begin counseling. Fast forward 6 months, I ended my counseling due to “feeling better”; furthermore, I didn’t quite mesh with the counselor.

After a few years and thinking I was okay, knowing that I truly wasn’t, I finally did. It took some rough points emotionally to make that phone call. Mind you, I have a lot of resources and people to find the right therapist, but I was too busy focusing on others to finally do it.

Where am I going with all this?

When I decided to open up Fisher Lifting, I wanted to bridge that gap of trying to find someone to talk to in a neutral zone. Seeing too many people struggling, especially in my profession, is not okay with me. I know I can’t help everyone, but if I can create a gym space to be healthy physically and emotionally too, let’s do it.

I partnered up with an old cow-workers wife who has her own practice New Beginnings Counseling and Wellness Center. With this parentship I am able to offer a FREE, yes, FREE 30 minute virtual session to all members of Fisher Lifting, each month.

I am happy to be able to offer this service for members and glad it is more accepted now. It’s a place to learn how to navigate emotions, thoughts, feeling, and learn who you truly are. In many ways it will help you pick up on others who may be hiding their struggles and be a lending ear. Therapy does suck!

Therapy sucks because, it gets you to be vulnerable, deal with anger, sadness, grief, and happiness. No one wants to confront that kind of stuff, and if you can; awesome! If you have figured it out, then be a person to talk to, so another can vent and let it all out without shame or embarrassment.

I will share things I have learned to pick up on since I have gone next time.
