Therapy and FItness Don’t Mix!

If you read the last post, I stated that I would let you know what I have learned since going. I wish I could tell you that I learned the miracle fix for emotions, anxiety, anger problems, or how not to feel lost; but I didn’t.

What it has taught me is that reflecting on why I am off on a particular day or why something is bothering me is okay.

It has taught me to acknowledge the emotion I am feeling, and it helps to not let the emotion run your day.

It taught me that a mental health counselor or therapist is a neutral spot to let it all out without judgment or ridicule. I know this is a gym blog, and I will tell you why this all correlates to health and fitness.

When you are able to control your mental state, it will help you reach your goals faster and push harder. It is a common fact that stress and emotions affect weight loss and muscle growth.

If you have been working out for any length of time, you have heard about cortisol levels and fat loss. Well, what do you think happens to your body if we are constantly anxious, angry, sad, or stressed? You guessed it!

At Fisher Lifting, we want you to be healthy in all aspects of wellness. We take a less sexy approach to weight loss, but it’s for the long game, not the fad game. We can guide you through proper eating, but at the end of the day, you have to take ownership of what is or is not happening. It’s easy to blame your personal trainer or nutritionist for your weight and body composition, but what are you doing to maintain it when they are not around? You can have the body you want and still eat the cake, but it takes balance.

A simple thing you can do is eat more protein throughout the day and less carbs and fats if you know you are going out with friends that night or to a party.
