Affordable or Not

When it comes to hiring a personal trainer—or if you are in the industry—finances are often the number one reason that holds people back. The truth is, in most cases, people can afford something; they just make excuses for why they can’t.

I understand, and I know there are times when you genuinely can’t afford it—I’ve been there. When I first started my career as a firefighter, I paid for a trainer once a week for 30 minutes. At the time, I was making $29K a year, had bills, and still made it work for a couple of months. After that, it became a choice between paying bills or paying for a trainer, so I had to go it alone. I get it.

Personal training is an investment in yourself that pays off threefold as we age. You can start at any age. There are countless success stories of people in their 60s and 70s lifting weights, getting off medications, playing with their grandkids, and living happier lives. Let me share a quick story about one of my clients, Dale.

Dale is recently retired and was a high-level athlete throughout her teenage years and adult life. However, due to the old mentality of “no pain, no gain,” she eventually needed major shoulder surgery, which, over time, stopped her from enjoying life. She couldn’t even shake out clothing without causing shoulder pain or triggering debilitating migraines.

After hearing her partner talk about their training experience with me, Dale decided to give it a shot. She told me, “I’m tired of not feeling good. I know it will be a fight, but I’m here for it.”

Fast forward to today—just eight short months later—she can swim again, throw a ball, shoulder press, shake out clothing, do laundry, and even dabble in hitting golf balls. She’s stronger, healthier, more balanced, and, in her own words:

“MY LIFE HAS CHANGED SINCE I STARTED, AND YOU ARE AWESOME!”

Take the time to sit down and evaluate where you can cut expenses to budget for yourself. Nothing else matters if YOU aren’t around for your family, kids, grandkids, spouse, dogs, or cats. When you invest in yourself, you’ll feel better, move better, and look at life differently. You won’t be in pain, struggling to function, or dependent on so many pills that you feel like a walking pharmacy.

YOU ARE WORTH THE INVESTMENT!
